Our Story
Justin was raised in Eastern Washington and is the oldest with one brother and two sisters. His Dad was a pastor and in the 5th grade moved back to Almira near where his mom grew up. He loved helping his grandpa and uncles down on the farm outside of Hartline and starting working summers for them in high school. After graduating in 1997 with a Diesel/Heavy Equipment degree, he worked full time on the farm making hay and helping with cows until 2005 where he became a mechanic at the John Deere dealership.
Kristi grew up on a dry land farm in North Central Montana where she is the youngest of three girls. In 2007, she and Justin met online on eHarmony and she moved to Washington with her three daughters. After they were married in 2008, Justin adopted her girls and they have since added a son and another daughter to the family.
Justin left John Deere in 2010 where he farmed his cousins’ irrigated ground and raised Alfalfa and Timothy.
In 2013, he had the opportunity to take over his uncle’s cattle herd and has built it from 50 to 150 cow/calf pairs.
In 2021, the ground they were farming was sold and Justin had a decision to make. Go back to John Deere and mechanic again? Sell all the cows and find a different job? He has always had a love and a gift with cows and he just couldn’t bring himself to get out. And the thought of being back in a job was not the avenue he was interested in pursuing.
In the summer of 2022, they had their first beef ground to see if there was a need for grass finished beef. The response has been amazing. Their meat has now been enjoyed by hundreds of customers in Washington, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and California.
In 2024, in addition to the cows, he started raising pigs and chickens, and also started dry land farming with his cousin.
Justin is a fourth generation farmer/rancher and is utilizing ground that has been in the family for over 100 years. He takes this responsibility seriously and hopes to provide an opportunity for future generations.
